After two years of research and analysis, Mainstay Housing has a 10-year Housing Development Plan. The plan sets a clear path forward to increase our asset base and build quality, inclusive communities. It also lays out an ambitious target to construct or acquire 1,200 rental units over the next decade and expand Mainstay’s impact in the community.

The plan responds to the growing need for diverse affordable and supportive housing options in Toronto, and aligns with the City’s HousingTO 2020-2030 Action Plan.

Development activities will be funded through Mainstay’s Development Fund, which currently has nearly $3.5 million. We are actively looking for development opportunities, such as through Housing Now. We look to achieve our goals by being a full or partial owner of a property, and we are keen to work with partners who are interested in creating mixed-income communities where some tenants receive additional supports.

To lead the plan and begin moving forward, Mainstay is now looking for a new Director of Real Estate.
